Marketing Plan For The Company - 1489 Words

Introduction Lululemon is a company that has based itself around a value proposition of ethical production, healthy living and quality athletic gear designed to encourage and support an active lifestyle (Lululemon, 2014). Unfortunately for the company in the last year it has come under fire for a run of clothing that was far below their standard quality, and was in fact recalled for being too sheer (Peterson, 2013). This incident was exacerbated by CEO Chip Wilson’s comments that effectively blamed the issue on the body types of their customers (Forbes, 2014). This series of events served to isolate the brand from two of its critical strengths, namely the positive, encouraging push towards healthier living and the socially conscious production of high quality goods. In order to address this issue we are focusing our marketing plan on three specific areas: Focusing on emphasizing the realignment of our executive to reflect the values of the corporation, continuing to increase the production of micro-marketed goods, and increasing our client engagement by promoting yoga events in local communities in order to re-establish our position as a healthy, active and body-positive firm. Part A – Environments Consumers/Customers Lululemon is an athletic clothing retailer inspired by yoga and targets women who pursue an active lifestyle. Their clothing line includes garments for yoga, running, as well as athletic accessories. On April 20, 2010, a large oil spill began in the Gulf of Mexico after an explosion on a British Petroleum (BP) oil drilling rig there called Deepwater Horizon. In the weeks following the oil spill, the news was dominated by depictions of the spill and its growing size as oil continued to leak from an underwater well and pollute the Gulf of Mexicos waters. The spill harmed wildlife, damaged fisheries and severely hurt the overall economy of the Gulf region. The Gulf of Mexico oil spill was not fully contained until late July 2010 and throughout the duration of the spill it was estimated that 53,000 barrels of oil per day were leaked into the Gulf of Mexico. Financial Ratios of a Small Business - 1549 Words

Finance Information Imagine you are a small business owner. Determine the financial ratios that are important to the business. Compare your ratios with those that are important to a manager of a larger corporation. The ratios that would be most important to a business include: the current ratio, debt ratio and the return on assets. The current ratio is comparing the companys ability to pay its short term obligations. In general, the higher the number, the lower the risks that a firm will face from these challenges. This is important to a business, by helping executives to ensure that they have enough liquidity to pay creditors, employees and address other challenges. (Financial Ratios, 2011) The debt ratio is determining the total amounts of outstanding loans that a company owes to creditors. This number analyzes the firms ability to pay these obligations in comparison with its total assets. When this number is high, there are reduced risks of a potential default. For a business, this helps to determine if the company is taking on too much debt. (Financial Ratios, 2011) The return on assets is examining how effective the companys resources are being utilized to generate profits. For managers, this helps them to decide if a particular strategy is allowing the business to maximize its productivity. This is important, in determining if the firm will need to refocus their efforts on other areas in order to increase the total returns. Open Flow Based Server Load Balancing Gone Wild

Open Flow – Based Server Load Balancing Gone Wild Jiujian Ye, Paul Teran and Senthil Alagappan Ranganathan Abstract In today’s high-traffic internet, it is often desirable to have multiple servers representing a single logical destination server to share load. A general configuration consists of multiple servers behind a load-balancer which would determine which server would service a client’s request. Such hardware is expensive, congested, and is a single point of failure. In this paper we implement and evaluate an alternative load-balancing architecture using an OpenFlow switch connected to a NOX controller, which gains flexibility in policy, costs less, and has the potential to be more robust to failure with future generations of switches. However, the simple approach of installing separate rule for each client connection/microflow leads to huge number of rules in switches and heavy load on controller. So controller should exploit switch support for wildcard rules for more scalable solution that directs large aggregates of client traffic to server replicas. We implement these algo rithms on top of NOX OpenFlow controller and evaluate their effectiveness. Introduction There are many scenarios in today’s increasingly cloud-service based internet where a client sends a request to a URL, or logical server, and receives a response from one of potentially many servers acting as the logical server at the address. One example would be a Google web-server: after a client resolvesShow MoreRelatedCloud Computing Security67046 Words   |  269 Pagessecurity challenges becomes crucial to business development. Learning a Foreign Language Free Essays

With the development of the world and the raising level of education, learning a foreign language has become a compulsory subject for every student. At the same time, the problem of learning foreign languages is extremely crucial. Foreign languages are socially demanded especially at the present time when the progress in science and technology has led to an explosion of education and has contributed to an overflow of information. We will write a custom essay sample on Learning a Foreign Language or any similar topic only for you Order Now Foreign languages are needed as the main and most efficient means of information exchange of the people of our planet. A second language can be applied not only to science and technology, and sometimes it also used in people’s daily life. We all know that, whether you travel or business to another country, it will make your trip more relaxed and enjoyable that if you know the local language. Of course, this is just a basic purpose of learning a foreign language. I interviewed one of my friends about this topic, who called Flo and is a native English speaker and have been learning German for four years. I interviewed her about her experiences and viewpoints of learning a foreign language from many aspects, fortunately, I got some now ideas. There are many reasons to learn a foreign language, from studying and working in another country to communicating with foreigners, through travel, emigration and maybe just interest. When I asked Flo what is her purpose of learning German, she said that she had a trip in Germany when she was a child. At that time, she felt that German is a beautiful language, its pronunciation, and the way people speak it were deeply attracted her. So she began to learn German when she was in high school, and now, her major is German Business, so the purpose for her is changed. She said it is different from before when she studied German in high school, she studies German here is for learning the economic situation in Germany and also for looking for a career in Germany after graduation. As can be seen, reasons of learning a foreign language are diverse. Sometimes you began to learn a foreign language just because it sounds good to you when it is spoken, and sometimes the information about the subject you chose s published mainly in a foreign language. Learning that language will make it easier to get the material you need. Learning a foreign language is useful but not easy. Its grammar, pronunciation, writing and vocabulary are always plagued language learners, they are totally different from your mother tongue, so there are a big deal of difficulties have to face for language learners. My interviewee said that the first big d ifficult she met is grammar. German grammar is more complex than English grammar, it has a lot of the old rules need to keep in mind, and it is less flexible than English. Although in some aspects, these two languages are similar, for example, the subordinate clause. But it is still not easy to master German completely for her. What’s more, the pronunciation is also a big problem for Flo. She showed me that in German letters, in addition to the A(a),O(o),U(u) and? , other letters written look not much different from English letters, but the pronunciations are totally different, she always confuse the pronunciation of two languages. Obviously, learning a foreign language is not that easy, we need to learn its grammar, writing, pronunciation and vocabulary, or even need to known about the culture and history of the country that speaks this language. This is the only way to fully grasp a foreign language. When we understand the purpose of learning a foreign language and what difficulties we will face when we study this language, the most important thing next is how to learn a new language. Because as long as you have a correct language learning method, you can quickly, completely and high efficiently master a language without fool’s errands. Flo told me that, at the beginning of learning German, she didn’t know how to learn it, just blind to see some German movies and news on TV, so during that time, her German level of progress is very slow. Though classroom learning, she began to know some correct methods of learning a new language. The best way for her is using the internet resources after classes, as we all know that the resource on the Internet is infinite, most of the time, we can get anything we want from the Internet, especially for language study, we can find some language learning audios, videos, articles and even online courses. So making good use of network resources have a negligible effect on people when they are studying a foreign language. And we cannot ignore that, at the same time, the way to learn a language is to practice speaking it as often as possible. Language is diverse. In people’s day-to-day conversation, we prefer to speak informal language with some slangs, it makes people communicate simple and not binding. Language is a collective human creation, reflecting human nature, how we conceptualize reality, how we relate to one another. Said by STEVEN PINKER, the author of The Language Instinct. Language is for the exchange of ideas, for the communication, so language is the most crucial tool for people to communicate, but only one language is not enough, form my point of view, learning a foreign language is necessary if you want to know more about the world. As long as you want to learn a new language, learning foreign languages should be fun. How to cite Learning a Foreign Language, Essay examples

Value of Friendship free essay sample

Everyone places value on something for very different reasons. The most significant thing is what our values are and the importance we give to those values. So many things that we think have so much value, really have transient value, and we overlook the things of true and lasting importance. We should always place great value on what is real and genuine. Mostly everyone places great value on life. So what’s the value of life? I believe the value of life consists of many qualities. To me, the main value of life is friendship. Friendships bond the world together by the tie of promises and morality between people. It causes the world to connect in so many diverse ways it is unbelievable. For example, long lasting friendships can be created by just meeting in a coffee shop or at a grocery store. The connection with another can give you the ability to see yourself as others see you, and only then you would know how exceptionally special you are. Life is filled and fortified with friendships, from the first friendships with your parents and family, to your childhood friends, and even teachers. The meaningful outcome of friendship made me realize different goals in my life and profoundly shaped me into who I am today. There’s always that one friend that surpasses every other person you’ve ever met in your life. The person who has constantly believed in you with all their heart and soul. The one who can lift your spirits by just saying a few simple words and being there through tenacious struggles that life hurls at you. Typically, that one friend is called your best friend. I would say I have the greatest friend of all time. I know its cliche, but she’s the one person that has made the biggest difference in my life. She’s the person that gave me a whole new outlook on life which caused me to make wise decisions for myself and not others. The effect of my best friend has led me to meaningful aspirations and the ambition to always be the best I can be without losing who I am. So basically, this implicates how friendships benefit the world and creates a humbling connection that bonds people together and can sometimes make you reevaluate life. I believe friends can change who you are for the better, whether negatively or positively, the people you surround yourself with have an evocative influence on where your life takes you. A friend can be one of the most goal aspiring and motivational person that encourages you to be a better person. My best friend now, impacted my life in such a positive way that I chose to change who I am. Specifically, I believe my best friend got me to where I am today. I was a hopeless person that was indecisive of whether to do bad actions or to lose my former friend that never really cared about the true meaning of our friendship. My former friend, which I surrounded myself with was known for the bad habit of shoplifting and theft. I’ve known this girl ever since the third grade and I was great friends with her ever since the incident. Knowing right from wrong, I made the most idiotic and regretful decision of my life, I chose to go in the wrong direction by choosing not to lose her as a friend, and to shoplift. During my friendship with my former friend, our â€Å"hanging out† consisted of going to the mall to rip the tags off items and stuff them in our purses until our purses were too full to fit anything else. The adrenaline of walking through the exits of a store without getting caught really gave my former friend and I a rush. This addicting, yet horrible habit, got the best of me and led me to getting caught at a local store. I had to call my parents and pay a shoplifting fine of $250. Unfortunately, by associating myself with shoplifting, I destroyed my life because of my actions. I’m not putting all the blame on my former friend because, it was my choice to shoplift and I made the decision that led to the outcome of my stupendous actions. I take all the blame for the brainless choices I made. It was my fault that I surrounded myself with a negative person most of my life. One of the worse things was that my family and former friends at school, assumed I was going to steal their things and they kept my mistake in the back of their mind for years. I was left trying to find a way for my family and friends at school to put their trust in me and realize I transformed into a whole different person and I’ve honestly never felt better. Although, the incident led to everyone losing trust in me, the only person who still believed in me was my best friend of four years. She was the only person that still had faith in me and was there for me when no one else was. She was always my number one supporter and ally. My best friend has literally made the biggest difference in my life. I owe it all to her that I’ve developed into a person with goals and ambitions to always improve as a person. I wouldn’t be who I am today if I didn’t have my best friend. I realized that by stepping away from pessimistic people and bad actions, I have become a more structured and overall better person. I honestly believe the greatest thing in life is friendship. The moral importance of friendship is that you bond and connect with other people and that kind of relationship can make an enormous impact on your life. Although, it’s rare to find a friendship that is long lasting, life changing, and true, that doesn’t mean that it won’t be meaningful or genuine. One of my favorite quotes is To the world you are someone, but to someone you are the world. By a random woman named Lisa. This quote really explains how friendship and love isn’t just one sided. We are all important and we all deserve the gift of a true friend that loves you for who you are and brings out the very best of you. We always see the worst in ourselves, that’s why we need someone to prove us wrong. Friendship is the value of life.

Genocide and Americans Actions Essay Example For Students

Genocide and Americans Actions Essay Opinion 1: Lead the World in the Fight to Stop Genocide Military: According to the Genocide Convention signed and put into effect by the U.N December 9. 1948. Anyone committing genocide, whether constitutionally responsible rulers, public officials, or private individuals will be punished. Genocide is defined as the killing of members in a group, causing serious bodily or mental harm, imposing measures intended to prevent birth, or forcibly transferring children of that group to another group. This is exactly what is taking place in Darfur, Sudan. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees estimates as many as 50,000 people have been killed and about 1 million internally relocated. In addition roughly 170,000 refugees have fled to eastern Chad. These actions led to Secretary of State Colin Powell along with President Bush to officially declare the crisis a genocide. The U.N still has not recognized the crimes committed in Darfur as a Genocide. However in September 2004 the Security Council passed Resolution 1564 which threatens sanction against the Sudanese government if it does not stop attacks by the Arab Sudanese militias on black Sudanese villagers in the Darfur region. Sudanese officials have largely dismissed it, accusing the United States, for example of trying to overthrow an Arab government. They obviously dont fear that sanction on their oil exports of some 320,000 barrels per day that will be imposed. This shows Sudanese resolve, they are willing to forfeit the economic status in order to eliminate these African tribes. As the worlds last superpower we have an obligation to protect those nearing extinction using any means necessary. We have proven political and economic force is useless, now it is time for physical military force to step in. We have made a promise to end genocide, now is the time to act. We have an obligation to use our forces in order to protect these refuges at easy. .
